Webster University Graduation 2008
A Graduation Ceremony of Courage and Thanks
On the 10th of May 2008, the Graduands of
Webster University were greeted with a beautiful day to commemorate
their success and achievements.
The morning started early with graduands and families making
their way to receive their gowns and mortar boards with a quick
moment to pose for their symbolic graduation photograph. Once
settled, the procession commenced at 10.00 am from the garden at
Regent’s Park down York Bridge and at the entrance of St.
Marylebone Church. With eager expressions, the Graduands entered
the church to a fanfare of cheers from families, loved ones and
friends.
Our newly appointed Dean of Faulty of Humanities, Dr. Judith
Ackroyd, presented the Commencement Address. Dr. Ackroyd spoke of
the courage and strength of the Graduands and how their impact in
the world will transpire from the moment they walk out the doors as
Graduates.
Also to speak during the graduation ceremony
was former Webster Student Council member, Mr. Peter Kyriakos.
Mr. Kyriakos was elegant with his choice of theme with the
graduands. He emphasized on how blessed the graduands were to be
supported by their families, friends and Academics. While watching
his speech, it was easily noticed his strongest appreciation was a
sincere glance up to his fiancé.
Alumni Association Awards
The ceremony closed with the Alumni
Association Awards. The two-awarded individuals were recognized as
graduate and undergraduate students of exceptional distinction.
Criteria for selection include contribution to knowledge, teaching,
and service, along with involvement in professional organizations
and campus or community activities, and commitment to diversity.
The awards honored Undergraduate, Veronica Andrade and
Post-Graduate Betim Humolli.
The Academics, Graduates, families and friends
retired the ceremony with a garden party in Regent’s College
Gardens.
It was truly a memorable day for everybody. Congratulations to
all!
